Expectations, Respect and Ayahuasca
Some people come to Ayahuasca because they are looking for spiritual growth; some for healing from past traumas; some for help shaking addiction issues and some because they are psychonauts and are curious what Ayahuasca can hold for them. Whatever brings you to Ayahuasca, there are certain things that need to be kept in mind.
First and foremost, when coming to Ayahuasca, you MUST come with respect. Ayahuasca is not a party drug, it is not something you do for fun, it is not ANY other psychedelic you have ever experienced. You cannot control it; you cannot tell it what to do and you cannot "make" it do anything. All you can do is relax (easier said than done for some), clear your mind and allow it to take over and work-work wherever it needs to, however it needs to. Remember that relaxing doesn't mean "waiting" for the experience, it doesn't mean trying to "make it happen". It means putting your COUNSCIOUS mind to rest and allowing your subconscious mind to come to the surface.
A lot of people do tons of research on Ayahuasca (while some do absolutely none) and come to it thinking that what they have read or watched of other people's experiences is what theirs will be. NOT SO!! Everything that you will read or watch in regards to people explaining their experience is just that, them explaining THEIR experience. Your experience is going to be unique to you (because your life is unique to you) and you have to do your part to set yourself up for a successful experience.
When you come to Ayahuasca, the key to success is RESPECT and letting go of your EXPECTATIONS. Mother will give you what you need, not necessarily what you want.
